‘10-’11 Salary: 2,700,000

Contract Status: 1 year left at $2.7 M.

Receiving a lot of hype coming to the pros right out of high school in the 2004 draft class, “Bassy” didn’t exactly pan out how Portland thought he would. He was traded to Boston after 2 seasons, then dealt to Minnesota in the Kevin Garnett trade. When he came over from the Clippers in the 3 team trade that brought Antawn Jamison over, the Cavaliers became his 5th team in 6 seasons in the league.

Telfair is best known as a great ball handler and has proved to be a much better distributor than a scorer. He has the quickness to get to the rim, but needs to finish with more consistency. He is, however, a good pick & roll player, especially passing out of it, but lacks a consistent jump shot to keep the opposition honest. Bassy has the quickness to stay with his man defensively, but doesn’t always show it, and has been prone to show a lack of fundamentals at times. Some college ball with the right coach would have done him wonders.

Bassy is just 24, so he’s still young & has room to grow, but he has gotten chances to prove himself in the past. He is, however, on his 5th team already, and the constant change of scenery, along with his injury history, could have stunted his growth quite a bit. It’ll be interesting to see what the Cavs do with him. He’s best suited for an uptempo team, but is stuck behind Mo Williams & Boobie Gibson, and his decent sized expiring contract could be helpful in a potential deal.

    Good stuff, Len.

I’d love for the team to give Sebastian a chance to play this season, especially since his contract was originally slated to give LeBron “one more piece” via trade.

He’s only 25 so I see no negative side of taking a longer look at him.

    Agree Cam.

While he’s gotten some chances, there’s no doubt his career took a hit due to injuries & the constant change of addresses.

I’d love to see him get a shot.

Does Byron Scott wear a golf hat every day of the week?

Haha as a developing golfer, I can dig it.

At least it’s better than Mike Brown’s tennis swag.
