3rd Quarter Frustration: Dwyane Wade Edition.

3rd Quarter Frustration: Dwyane Wade Edition.

If you’re watching the Cavaliers/Heat game on TNT (which you should be!), you’ve seen another solid defensive third quarter by the Cavaliers on Dwyane Wade. Wade, who scored 18 points in the first half, was held scoreless in the third quarter on 0-7 shooting. Here are Wade’s splits from his three games against Cleveland this season.

Game 3rd Q points 3rd Q shooting Rest of game points Rest of game shooting
Nov 12 11 points 2-4 (50%) 25 points 7-17 (41.2%)
Jan 25 0 points 0-4 32 points 10-17 (58.8%)
Feb 4 0 points 0-7 24 points 11-19 (57.9%)
TOT 11 points 2-15 (13.3%) 81 points 28-53 (52.8%)

Hopefully the Cavs continue to smother the opposing team’s scorers in the third quarter this season. It would definitely aid what used to be commonly referred to as the “kryptonite quarter,” that’s for sure.

Haha, it’s no longer the third quarter. Not my fault!

Our defensive intensity in the third has been largely under-valued due to our offensive struggles in the same quarter over the years. Great work, Cams.

One has gotta believe this has to do with our player/coach, LeBron James. Without a doubt, they discuss situations and make adjustments at the half, rendering an opponent useless…or at least as close to useless as can be.

More to Shaq’s suggestion that LeBron could coach in this league now…..
